Step 1: Boost occupancy quickly 📈

The first bookings usually come from identifying previously overpriced dates and discounting them to attract quick bookings. This drives occupancy up fast. A bad revenue manager (or what I call, "occupancy manager") might stop at this step.

Step 2: Higher rates = patience ⏳

Raising rates for peak dates doesn’t bring instant bookings. Although I have seen it happen, I tell people not to expect it. Instead, these higher rates secure long-term revenue growth as demand aligns.

So, while occupancy gains can happen fast, true ADR and revenue increases are a long game. Pricing is about consistent strategy, not quick fixes!
